Construction of the Swedish warship Vasa began in early 1625.The huge 64-gun vessel had a flaw,
however,in that her heavier cannons were on the upper decks, this would allow a strong gust of wind to blow her straight onto her side and sink her.Unfortunately that fatal flaw was ignored by her designers,
with disastrous consequences. On 10 August 1628 the recently completed Vasa sailed out of port. She had barely gotten out of port and was still less than 500 feet from the nearest land when a strong breeze
blew her over and she sank, taking 50 people down with her.
