Jagpanther heavy tank destroyer

The German built Jagpanther tank destroyer entered production at the beginning of 1944 on the body of a Panther(tank)with an 88mm gun.The Jagpanther first saw action on the Eastern front and later in Normandy in July 1944(i think). It was very sucessful being able to make a fair speed while being able to destroy almost anything that could match it.It saw action in large numbers in the battle of the Bulge which was it's first and last major action of the war.Ten Jagpanthers still remain(3 operational and 7 in museums) out of only 415 that were built.

Koingsberg class cruiser

The Koingsberg class cruisers were built at a time when warship size was strictly limited. This caused alot of problems with them and one time one of them had to have major repairs done because of this.
When the war broke out they were used as commerce raiders before taking part in the naval invasion of Norway.Unfortunately even though the invasion was a success two of the three cruisers were sunk and the third took no more active part in the war.

Iosif Stalin heavy tanks

The Stalin tank series was designed to replace the old and obsolete KV series. The IS-1 entered  production in the winter of 1943-44(i think)but was soon replaced by the IS-2 which could finally match the notorious German tiger tank. The IS-2 served for the rest of the war and for some time but by the end of the war the IS-3 had entered production with an improved turret and armour designs. The IS-3 was used with many countries for many years but can now be found only in museums and there were several other designs that never made it into production.

The IS-2,IS-3 and IS-7 tanks,the IS-7 never entered production.

KV-1 Heavy tank

The KV-1 Heavy tank was built by Russia and used from 1939-44.It was first tested during the
Russo-Finnish war(also known as the Winter war)of 1939-40 along with two other heavy tank prototypes. It performed better than the other two and soon entered production. The KV-1 next saw action in Operation Barbarossa, the German invasion of Russia. It performed well on the battlefield because the Germans had almost nothing that could destroy it.But after 1941 it was considered obsolete and although some versions of the KV-1 were still around in 1944 none of them made it to the end of the war.

T-34 medium tank

The Russian built T-34 is considered by many to be the best tank ever built. The T-34 began in 1937 as a new light tank to replace the old BT series which was the main element of Russia's tank force and was rapidly becoming obsolete.Production started in 1940 and the few T-34's that were in service when Germany invaded in the summer of 1941 were one of the only tanks that could stand up to the massed German tank forces. They soon became Russia's main battle tank(because the BT series was almost completely wiped out in the first few months of fierce combat and because mass production had started)and gained a fierce reputation as one of the best tanks in the world. After the war ended they remained in service with many of Russia's allies and are still in service with a few of them.

Churchill infantry Tank

The British built Churchill infantry tank was probably the most famous British tank of WWII.The Churchill was built to replace the old Matilda and Valentine infantry tank's which were obsolete.
However in early actions, notably the Dieppe raid,it's performance was poor and it's production was almost suspended in of lighter tanks with bigger guns. But it was saved by a better version with a bigger gun. This new version of the Churchill and all the versions after it were very successful in the war. They were sent too many major allied countries(not America)and even Ireland got it's hands on a few. They served until the end of WWII but were replaced by the even more famous Centurion soon after.

Mark I tank

The British Mark I was the first ever tank to see action.Developed in 1915,the Mark I got the term "tank" from the fact that it was designed and built in such secrecy that the factory workers thought they were building water containers. When it first appeared on the battlefield, however, the term stuck,
and the Mark I soon gained a reputation as one of the most effective weapons used to break through the usually impenetrable German trenches. The Mark I proved very successful and soon more versions of the original were built, the Mark II,Mark III,Mark IV and Mark V soon rolled out and became the most feared weapon for the Germans who had very few ways of destroying them. The Mark series was used by many of the Allied countries during World War I and by both sides in the Russian civil war.

M3 Lee medium tank

The American M3 Lee medium tank was designed to replace the old M2 series which were obsolete and very few in number. The Lee entered service in late 1941 before the Japanese attack on Pearl harbour. Some Lee's were given to Britain where it was nicknamed the "grant",others were given to the soviet union. The Lee first saw action under Britain in north Africa in May of 1942.The Lee was a good tank, but it had a flaw:it was very tall which made it vunerable to enemy tank and anti-tank fire.
It prettymuch faded away from service right around the time the Germans brought out there new Panther and Tiger tanks.

M36 Slugger tank destroyer

The American built M36 Slugger was designed to combat the new German Panther and Tiger tanks.
Unlike the Hellcat the Slugger was heavily armoured and armed with a 90mm gun.The Slugger was not deployed to the Western front until late 1944.The Slugger was liked by it's crews because it was one of the only tanks able to safely destroy the Panthers and Tigers. The Slugger was also used in the Korean war and then shipped to many countries And fought for them.
