The American M3 Lee medium tank was designed to replace the old M2 series which were obsolete and very few in number.The Lee entered service in late 1941 before the Japanese attack on Pearl harbour.Some Lee's were given to Britain where it was nicknamed the "grant",others were given to the soviet union.The Lee first saw action under Britain in north Africa in May of 1942.The Lee was a good tank,but it had a flaw:it was very tall which made it vunerable to enemy tank and anti-tank fire.
It prettymuch faded away from service right around the time the Germans brought out there new Panther and Tiger tanks.
